Denied!

Remember in my first blog when I mentioned that I was starting this while I was still getting my life back together, Well….

Unfortunately my credit isn’t the best due to a divorce, bankruptcy, etc.   Last week, we found a house to rent that was in my price range that we were really excited about.  We wasted no time gathering paystubs, credit reports, and submitting our application.    We waiting 2 days for a response and we finally got the answer today- Our application was DENIED!

Had I had a similar experience in my 20’s, I would’ve reacted as if the world was coming to an end.  But when you have been through as many ups and downs as I have, you learn that another opportunity will show up around the  corner if you stay positive and don’t give up.  I am going to keep my head up, be grateful for all I have, and keep my eyes open so I am ready for the next opportunity.  Sometimes it’s the things that don’t work out, that lead you to exactly where you need to be.

Stop complaining- Nobody Cares!

I found myself in an all too familiar funk today.  You know, the usual ‘whoa is me’ bullshit.  Today’s situation is irrelevant, it’s the same feeling I get when I feel overwhelmed, or taken for granted, or not appreciated.   I started to go down the rabbit hole of self pity when I remembered a great little quip I had read the book in the book ‘Ignore Everybody’ by Hugh Macloed pictured below.

So instead of complaining to others, I put on some uplifting music to feel better.  It’s a playlist I made called ‘motvation’ which includes positive songs I can listen to when I am need a boost of energy and positive thoughts.  I encourage everyone to find such an outlet when they start to think negatively instead of bitching and complaining.

Where to start?

Welcome to my blog.  My name is Dan Sims and I live in Central New Jersey. I have been through a lot of things this past year and I am just starting to gain some traction in really getting my life back on track.  Sadly, I have been using food as a crutch to deal with life’s challenges and gained a whole lot of weight, enough to put me at an all time high of 328 pounds as of 3 weeks ago.

I finally said ‘enough is enough’ and got serious about losing weight and working on all aspects of my life.  I lost 15 pounds in the first 3 weeks  My girlfriend Kareen told me that I was inspiring for her and asked that I post whatever motivation I am using to stay on track.  And so, this blog is designed to do just that.

The name persevere was inspired from a real life situation this week.   I was driving home from work with my head down (not while driving) because I was upset.   In front of me was a car with the license plate shown below.

I understand that not everyone believes in fate, but I believe this was the universe’s way of telling me to persevere through all off my challenges and stay on track.  That great things are soon to come!
